Bank Account and Merchant Account

To collect money from a credit card operated vending machine, the merchant will need two types of accounts:

  • First, a Bank Account.
  • Second, a Merchant Account.

Bank Account

This is simply the merchant’s bank account - typically, the checking account.   The bank account is where the money from the credit card sales transactions will be deposited.

Merchant Account

A Merchant Account is a special account setup for collecting credit card transactions.  A Merchant Account is actually a contractual agreement between you, the merchant, and an acquiring bank.  Under this agreement the acquiring bank will collect the sale proceeds from the card user’s issuing bank and will deposit the funds into your Bank Account.  A Merchant Account is obtained from a credit card processor.

BlueVend Merchant Account

The people at BlueVend know and understand the Forward Pay Systems unattended credit card readers.

With a BlueVend Merchant Account, vending machine merchants have password protected web site access to their Merchant Account reports.  These reports provide credit card sales information for each  vending machine.  Information for each individual transaction is available (useful to help resolve a dispute).

At this Merchant Account web site the vending machine merchant can even directly refund a sale if required.

There is no setup fee for a BlueVend account.  However, Forward Pay does charge an annual maintenance fee for each BlueVend account.

Other Credit Card Processors

It is possible to use some other credit card processors with the Forward Pay credit card readers if they can accept one of the following protocols:

  • Global Payments East
  • Alliance Data Systems (ADS from Heartland)
  • Paymentech Host Capture

Because of the support involved with using a processor other than WorldPay, Forward Pay will charge a one-time setup fee plus an additional annual fee for online maintenance and monitoring of the credit card reader.
